Introducing: The NoCode Software Selector!

Built in 5 hours, use this to confidently choose your software stack.

Every Friday at 2pm MDT until the end of the year I'll be doing a mini hackathon and training on SmartSuite and/or FlutterFlow!

If you're an aspiring NoCode developer, this zoom call is THE place to kickstart your journey.

I had 5 calls with aspiring NoCode developers this week.

3 of the 5 said that they struggle to choose the right NoCode tool for their problem. The 4th might have said something similar a year ago, when he was just starting his NoCode journey. The 5th hadn’t even gotten into the NoCode tool research phase yet (and didn’t know what he was in for).

Choosing the right NoCode tool is a tough problem!

There’s dozens (hundreds, maybe) of tools out there.

You don’t have enough time to learn them all. Nor do you have time to study all of them. You know this, and it creates uncertainty when you’re looking for the software to solve your problem.

The fear is wasted time, energy, and resources.

That you’ll waste time learning the wrong tools.

That they won’t work for you.

That, as one person said to me this week, "It's not gonna lead to anything.”

I suffer from this problem as well. It’s one of the reasons I restricted the softwares I use to 1) SmartSuite and 2) FlutterFlow, BuildShip, and Supabase. I had to limit my choices so that I wasn’t constantly drawn away by shiny objects. These two stacks were chosen for multiple reasons, but ultimately because I am confident I can build anything with these two tools.

This doesn’t always mean they are the right tool for the job though.

  • Make and Zapier still have a place in setting up business automations.

  • Quickbase has a powerful form builder with dynamic formula fields that are just to die for.

  • Glide offers a faster build than FlutterFlow, but at the loss of some flexibility.

Each software has pros and cons. And each is at a different stage of maturity.

So how do you navigate that?

How do you choose the right NoCode software for your problem?

By building a software that helps you choose the right software to use!

Duh!!

So yesterday I built a tool to help me (and you) determine which softwares to use depending on our problem.

There’s a short tutorial accessible from the app that shows you how to use it.

There’s also a button that you can click on to request new features (like additional requirements, or more NoCode tools to be added).

I built this in 5 hours yesterday, and it was my first time really diving into Supabase (I normally use Firebase) so that was fun!

Please leave feedback and improvement requests in the SmartSuite form!

And if you find it useful, please share it with friends! =D

Excited to support you in this way!

Sterling Long!

P.S. I host a weekly hackathon and training on Fridays at 2pm MDT. Register here. If you’re looking at getting into the NoCode space, this is THE place to get started!
